“When I went to Scotland and saw all of Esme’s looks I was so mesmerised, I had never seen such a beautiful wedding gown. I just stood at cocktail hour staring at every single detail, stitch and embroidery. It was really incredible, I had never felt so pulled in, so captivated by a dress before, The only problem was that I already had bought a wedding dress for myself. As my wedding was only a few months away my entire collection came to fruition in a matter of weeks.
My dress didn’t compare at all, and I was really sad about it. I went back to New York, still thinking about it. Then I went to London and my mother sought out Suzie’s studio. Like me she was mesmerised by her work and what she did. We decided that we should get some dresses made. I had a whole week in Africa, where we were thinking about all the best looks we could create.
My wedding was a safari in the wine country and I was really inspired by African culture.
So Suzie and I spent hours sending looks back and forth to each other.
Until we came across an incredible African inspired neckpiece, where we decided this was going to be the second dress of the night. We figured out that we could create a corset that was beyond my wildest dreams. Suzie and the whole team really brought that vision to life so quickly. It’s the best I had ever felt in a dress, the most stunning piece and I was beyond lucky to wear it on my wedding.
Each look was made to fit my body perfectly, to make me feel so comfortable. I really believe that it was like a dream, the most fun experience, it wasn’t just about wearing it that night, it was the experience of having someone make a dress for your body.”
